Year 5 Trip to Brockholes Nature Reserve

Year 5 had a spectacular day at Brockholes Nature Reserve. We learnt all about Rivers and Map Skills.

We learnt about the River Ribble and the course it runs, as well as observing all the biodiversity there was around its banks. We saw geese on the water, damselflies, snails and lots of other little beasts! We saw cuckoo spit, invasive plant species and much more.

We put our map skills into practice and navigated our way around the site. We identified where the Deep Dark Woods were on the map and successfully navigated our way to them! Along the way, we discovered the Gruffalo and other little creatures lurking within the trees!

Once we arrived in the Deep Dark Wood, we made our own 3D maps using tree trucks, twigs, plants and any natural material we could find!
