World Book Day

This year World Book Day will be different as the majority of children are learning from home. We are going to postpone our usual activities until all the children return to school.

St Bernadette’s is a reading school and we believe every day is a book day. During March, we want you to celebrate our reading culture with us.

ACTIVITY ONE
We have designed two activities this year. We would like the children to turn a potato into a book character. The children
can have lots of fun with this
ACTIVITY TWO
Our next activity is to make a book nook. Mrs Bergus has already made one and we have included a PowerPoint to show you the process. Remember to make them the size of a book so they can fit on the shelves.
We would love you to send in photographs to your child’s class email.

The children can bring in their book nooks when they return to school. These will be placed amongst the books on the shelves in class.

Each class is going to focus on an author or a particular book and this will give you an opportunity to join in with book talk at home.

When the children return to school, they will still receive their World Book Day token, which they can exchange in bookshops for a special WBD book or receive a £1 discount on a full price book.

We hope this gives you a chance feel part of our reading community, which is such an important part of our daily life here at St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School.
